Rare Aesthetic Design is a full-service design studio located in Houston, Texas. We were born out of a desire to infuse unapologetic design and vibrant energy into a city that appreciates both. The Owner
Ayana Nwaokolo is best known for her bold, luxurious, and layered interiors. As the Founder and principal designer of Rare Aesthetic Design, she has helped clients achieve spaces that are uniquely their own.
With over 10 years of interior design experience, Ayana began her journey by earning a Bachelor's degree in Interior Design with a minor in Architecture from the University of Oklahoma - Norman. She gained most of her experience in high-end residential interiors, starting her work designing luxury kitchens for Poggenpohl USA. Since then, she has worked for several high-end firms in her hometown of Houston, TX, and Oklahoma City, where she refined her skills in custom furniture design and millwork detailing.
Ayana draws inspiration from Contemporary European design and Classical Architecture. She embraces "the mix" and always incorporates global influences in patterns, textures, and unique collectibles that reflect the personality and background of her clients.
Currently residing in Houston with her husband, Onyi and their children - Dinma, Nonso and Naya - Ayana finds inspiration outside of work by cooking global cuisine, including native Nigerian dishes, for her family. She also enjoys exploring nature and frequently visiting the local art scene.
